A Journey of Faith and Transformation

It all began with a knock.

In May of 1972, Frances Schmidt was sent to Ramsey with a bold mission: to find people ready to plant a church in a growing community. For an entire year, she knocked on doors—one by one—looking for those willing to take a leap of faith. On September 16, 1973, a small group gathered at Anoka Hennepin Technical College to worship together for the very first time. That spark of faith became Lord of Life, officially born just months later at 6139 157th Lane NW.

The Late 1980s – God Was Doing a New Thing

By the end of the '80s, it was clear that God had more in store. Membership was growing, worship services were thriving, and support for the mission was strong. Innovative worship experiences and a vibrant children’s and youth ministry began drawing many who had never stepped foot in a church before.

The 1990s – Embracing Growth

As the early '90s began, Lord of Life had outgrown its original space. Expansion wasn’t possible—but God made a way. A new site was miraculously provided, and in June 1992, worship began in what is now our current home. That move ushered in a season of rapid growth and a renewed sense of purpose.

Today – A New Season of Growth

We believe God is still writing our story. In recent years, Lord of Life has entered a fresh season of renewal and expansion. With hearts on fire to share the love of Jesus, we are more committed than ever to becoming a radically welcoming, Spirit-filled, life-transforming community.
